Antarctica
is the climate record holder. It is the coldest continent with an average
annual temperature of −49° C.
LOWEST TEMPERATURE
The
world’s lowest temperature of −86.6°C was recorded at Russia’s Vostok station.
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE
Highest recorded
temperature, Aziza, Libya 58°C
DRIEST CONTINENT
The driest
continent of all, Antarctica records no rainfall.

Lowest average
annual rainfall Arica, Chile 0.8 mm.
HIGHEST AVERAGE RAINFALL

Most

LEAST SUNSHINE
The
South Pole on Antarctica receives the least sunshine on earth. There is no
sunshine in 182 days every year.
WINDIEST PLACE
Commonwealth
Bay on the George V Coast of Antarctica is the world’s windiest place. In 1972
a wind speed of 320 k per hour recorded.
LOWEST OZONE LEVEL
Ozone
levels reached a world record low of 91 Dobson units over Antarctica in October
1993. Adequate protection form solar radiation is 300 Dobson units.
